Garden of Grey

Goodwill and glad tidings.

Dress: Goodwill
Sheer slip: Goodwill
Sheer maxi cardigan: eBay
Shoes: eBay
Necklace: A gift from my friend Peter (as explained here)

This outfit is almost completely from Goodwill, which you will most likely see A LOT more of --as I find all of my best staples at Goodwill! But the Goodwill in Bellevue in particular has the best finds.
(But don't tell anyone I told you! My buddy Kindra introduced me to this treasure trove!)
Both dresses were finds from separate trips months apart!

The Last of Her Fading Power

Dress: Nasty Gal
Fur: Poor little bunny
Custom dreadfalls: Armored Girl
Crystal crown: Elemental Child

I was honored to take part in the first set in my dear friend Kindra's new series; Dreamscapes.
She has influenced my artistic life heavily. Breathing new life into what was becoming a stale job for me. It's always a treat to work with her.  Since I'm a full time artist, the lustre of creating tends to become somewhat dull. Doing anything day and night tends to do that to anyone. But Kindra's ferverous chase for the transcendent experience art provides never fails to remind me of why I began my journey so long ago. She pushes me on levels I don't always even fully realize. Kindra's a real breath of fresh air. And of course we work together very well. The contrast of our personalities benefits our projects greatly. As seen here, for example.
Kindra and I collaborated on conceiving the concept for this shoot some time before I was able to travel back up to Seattle from California. Again, I wanted to explore the fascination I have with alluring deceitful film characters by emulating the curious exposition and demise of Narnia's White Witch; Jadis.
I woke up very very ill the morning we were supposed to travel up to some mountains to shoot this set. I was determined to push on as I knew how much this meant to Kindra and we also had a couple of very generous designers on board for the set. Not to mention I knew it was going to be effing cool despite how I felt. And strangely, my illness greatly contributed to the mood of the photos. I feel that it's always best to try to feel the shot, not just pose. As you can see, I definitely felt the character. I felt defeated, miserable, and weak. But it was so worth it!
Anyway. Kindra never disappoints. Her vision is so specific.
I'd like to especially thank Elemental Child for allowing us to utilize this amazing handmade crown along with Deven of Armored Girl for making me the gorgeous custom dreadfalls that made my hair so gigantic and fancy. I'd also like to thank the little bunny that kept my body somewhat warm and possibly kept me on the edge of uhlive instead of ded.

Point Blank

Shoes: eBay
Draped trousers (c/o): Widow Clothing
Asymmetric top: eBay
Leather purse (c/o): Widow Clothing
Hair cuff: eBay
Ear cuff: eBay

House of Widow is quickly becoming a huge source of inspiration for me. Believe it or not, I was most attracted to Widow's brilliant branding and graphic design first. It resonated incredibly well with what I wanted to achieve with my signature aesthetic personally and professionally. Once I saw that I would wear pretty much anything they had in their shop, it was like finding that puzzle piece you lost under the couch decades ago.
Their brand is just the right mix of everything. These pants for example; are just the right amount of masculinity and elegance with a dash of goth. As most of their clothing is. So much grace, mystery, and strength is constructed in every one of their pieces. You CAN do goth wrong (believe it or not, Hot Topic), but they are doing the absolute opposite. Good freaking job, you guys.
(Yeah, my hair is long.)

Home is wherever I'm with you...

Tank (c/o): Crossfox
Lip color (c/o): Lime Crime's "Coquette"
Shorts: eBay

As many of you may know, I made a huge move across the country a couple of weeks ago. I'm loving it, but still adjusting - as huge changes tend to require some adjustment.
I took very little with me, mostly just what I could fit into my new wee little car, so I'm rebuilding my home basically from scratch. It will take awhile with all of the basic yet over complicated tasks that come with moving interrupting my work and daily life. Finding comfort amidst the chaos and excitement has probably been the second biggest obstacle. The first being coming to terms with being so geographically separated from my family (I've moved and traveled all over the west coast, but I was always within maybe a days driving distance from my folks and sisters).
So establishing some sort of cozy down time has been priority for keeping my nerves from suffocating me (I'm a very anxious person). What that basically means is I've been making a lot of tea and cocoa, cuddling in my bed with Fringe after dinner, and living in Crossfox pieces.
My friend Emilie, mother of Crossfox, surprised me with a couple of pieces of hers right before I left. I drove from Washington to California wearing them, then from California to Tennessee while wearing them. It feels like cheating because they feel as comfortable as new pajamas on Christmas, but hug me and flatter my figure - not to mention they look freaking awesome. It's the kind of effortless style and comfort I need right now. She'll be gracing this blog again soon!
